On November 15, 2012, the Emerald Necklace Conservancy had their annual meeting to update everyone about upcoming and past events, as well as giving all of the volunteers, members, and friends a big thank you.
Benjamin Taylor and Julie Crockford started off the evening great with the remarks and annual report. Afterwards, Janet P. Atkins was introduced and she spoke about the Justine Mee Liff Fund’s 10th anniversary project to raise $1 million for the Olmsted Tree Society.
As a way of thanking the Docent Class of 2012, Barbara Balasa, Stan Everett, Lola Heiler-Stillman, Judy MacNeill, Dan Moulton, Lucy Robb, and Nancy Stutzman were given awards and hats for their wonderful tours of the Emerald Necklace park system. We would also like to thank Matt Seidner for his continuous help with the Emerald Necklace.
A representative from Lesley University, Coleen O’Connell spoke to the audience about urban parks. She mentioned that she grew up in the midwest, left for Maine, and when she came to Boston, she fell in love with the city and its parks. She continues to help people build a relationship with the natural world.
Finally, the Emerald Necklace Conservancy would like to thank Northeastern University for allowing us to use their auditorium for our presentation and everyone that joined us for the special evening.
