Week 3: Mastering the art of shrub bed maintenance

The Green Team has been working to restore and maintain the parks throughout the Emerald Necklace for the last three weeks, and in that time they have masterfully picked up the skills of shrub bed maintenance.  Terms like “edging” and “mulching” are no longer foreign; the art of clearly marking the edge of a shrub bed and of raking mulch into the bed are daily projects.  The photos above highlight two beds completed near the Round House in the Riverway.  If you happen to walk by Allerton Overlook in Olmsted Park or the War Memorial or the Shattuck Visitor Center in the Back Bay Fens, you will have the chance to see Green Team’s handy work.
