The Youth Leadership Program (YLP) is a leadership development program for young adults ages 16-18 that fosters leadership skills while exposing them to career opportunities in park restoration and maintenance, landscaping, horticulture, and environmental advocacy. YLP is geared toward youth who have already completed a youth employment program or job in the environmental field. Our goal is to outfit youth with a vocabulary of leadership skills that they can use in an advanced job. From October to May, youth members work in the parks, completing work projects ranging from shrub bed maintenance to debris removal, and get experience leading work projects independently.  They also attend workshops and take part in field trips to learn about topics ranging from environmental careers to the history of the Emerald Necklace.
Our application is available on our website by clicking here.   To apply, fill out the application and return it to our office at 125 Fenway, Boston, MA, 02115.  If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Brittany Dunn, Youth Programs Coordinator by calling 617.522.2700 or by emailing her at
